GG Writing Challenge #5 is Now Open for Voting

November 3, 2014

I hope you all had a fabulous Halloween! It was a quiet week here at Grammar Ghoul Press, but those of you who showed up gave us some fantastic submissions. Thanks to everyone who participated this week!

It’s that time of year again — NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month. Are any of you participating? Best of luck to those of you who are! We hope you’ll stop by and visit and look forward to seeing you back here in December.

Time for some wicked voting

Okay, now that the challenge is closed, voting is officially open! That means it’s time to read (or re-read) all the submissions and vote for your three (3) favourites (just click the little heart icon on the top right corner of your choices).

We’re pretty laid back here, but we do have a couple of rules about voting.

  •    •  Read all of the submissions.
  •    •  Don’t vote for your own submission. You already know how super-awesome you are!

If you’re wondering how to narrow down your selection, here are a few things to consider:

  •    •  Who made the best/most creative use of the prompts?
  •    •  Who nailed the flash fiction format (assuming they didn’t write poetry)?
  •    •  Whose submission stayed with you (or kept you up at night)?

Say whose name?

Voting will close tomorrow at 6 p.m. and the winners will be announced on Wednesday at 8 a.m., along with the new challenge and prompts! Remember, if you have a suggestion for one of our prompts, you can put it on the forum in the Ghouls’ Lair. While you’re there, you should check out the other forums and take a minute to introduce yourself.

Thank you all for your enthusiasm and support!

Hi all, so sorry I had to sit this week out. I am, MAYBE, going to do NaNoWriMo if I can get my real life to cooperate but I hope to be able to contribute here occasionally as well. This past weekend being the kick-off though I was pretty seriously engaged elsewhere. For sure, though, I’ll still be around to read all your fabulous work even if I can’t manage to multi-task my writing life.

No worries – we’re happy to have you here as a reader. And if you do participate in NaNoWriMo, best of luck with it! I wanted to do it this year, but I’m editing a (fabulous) dystopian novel and there’s no way I can squeeze it in. 🙂

I regret I missed this week, and was too late to vote. I read over all the submissions though and all of them were excellent. I rarely check my email, so I’m going to have to use another reminder about the submission dates, voting dates, and all that.

Thanks for taking the time to comment and let us know. Sometimes life gets in the way. 🙂

Urg! I ran out of time to vote. Actually, I thought today was Tuesday, truth be told, and that I had until tonight. How did I miss a day!? Sorry everyone. It would have been a hard choice anyway as these stories were brilliant!

I had the same experience! I realized at 4pm yesterday that it was Tuesday, so I managed to get in under the wire. I’m going to blame the clock change.

And you’re right – it was a tough choice! 🙂
