Shapeshifting 13 Winners of #16 Challenge

September 1, 2015

Boo, Ghoul Friends!

And welcome to the winner’s post of the SHAPESHIFTING 13 CHALLENGE #16!!!

Thank you so much for visiting us!
If you experience any cuts or scratches, bites or bruises–you’re welcome!
It’s how we show our love around here.

We had such a wonderful turn out for this challenge! And such amazing pieces! I hope you enjoyed it, Ghouls! I absolutely love that picture!!!

Now that you’ve entered (and, let’s be honest, you wouldn’t want to turn back even if you could! hehe!), let’s look at a few reminders:

  • Make sure to visit our Facebook and Twitter pages, and show us some love over there, too! And share our goodness (or our badness, however you look at it) with the world!
  • The deadline for our first-ever Fall Short Story Contest is fast approaching! We are currently accepting submissions through Friday, September 13th at Midnight, Eastern Time, and I highly encourage you to consider submitting. The winner will receive $100 and be published in our fall issue of The Ghoul’s Review. Time is running out, so make sure to submit something soon! Only $10 to enter.
  • The Mutant 750 #49 Kickoff is currently open for submissions! Check out our prompts this week, and considering submitting! (You know you want to.)
  • Our Lair is always open for your lurking pleasure! We have several posts for you to join, and I would love to see your input on our discussions! If you’re new here, consider telling us a little about yourself in our Introductions forum. Also, if you’ve read a good book lately, and you think even one of us may enjoy it, too, considering sharing it in our Book Club forum. Look for new posts every Wednesday and Saturday, usually. We recently launched a post about which writing you feel you’re strongest in–poetry, short-stories or long-form fiction. And, tomorrow, we’ll have a new discussion post about weird names we use for the stuff we don’t know the real names for! Let your voice be heard!
  • The Shapeshifting 13 goes live every Friday at Noon ET. The grid will stay open until Sunday at 8:00 p.m., after which voting will open. Voting ends on Monday at 8:00 p.m., so you get about 24 hours to read and vote for your favorites pieces. Winners will be announced in a separate post on Tuesday at Noon ET. Further details can be found here.

Well, that was fun!

Alrighty-roo! Let’s get to the winners, shall we?! The winners of the Shapeshifting 13 Challenge #16 are:

1st: E.A. Wicklund of Momus News with his clever and fun piece The RefundSuch a funny look at proving someone wrong, and proving that your not crazy! Go on and grab that winner’s badge! You earned it!

2nd: JoeTwo of Joe2Stories with the thought-provoking and intriguing piece The Grand Design, which explores the image in a way that makes you wonder who the actual alien is.

3rd:  C2Avilez of Views from Around the Corner with Freedom, an elegant, sensual and almost spiritual piece that explores a moment in the woods as the light shines through

Congratulations, to our winners!!

Such well-deserved winners, and absolutely stunning work from each and every one of you! I hope to see you all again Friday for our Shapeshifting 13 Challenge #17 where your word limit will be 13 words! And this one will be a word prompt, so…PREPARE YOURSELVES! MWAHAHAHA

Until then, au revoir, and SHARE THE GEEKDOM!
