Hello, Ghoul Friends!
Before we talk about writing, before we talk about the challenge and the winners, we need to address something:
Here at Grammar Ghoul Press, we are not looking at the political condition, the spiritual condition nor the orientation condition. The events in Orlando this past weekend deeply impact the human condition. When the news was released, when the body count was still low, many of us looked at this event as tragic, but so many of us neglected to see that these people were, in fact, people. While we are grateful for our lives, for the breaths we take, for the opportunity to do something good today because we’re alive, let us not forget that forty-nine people who had forty-nine name, who loved forty-nine families, who probably had forty-nine different favorite things each–let us not forget that these people are no longer with us. Let us not forget that these people now belong to a coterie to which no one should belong. Tragedy hits everyday, around the world, and it’s never good, never necessary–so, before we get to any form of celebration, let us take a moment to remember those we lost and continue to lose. Whatever your reason–whether you are affected by the human condition of this tragedy or the fact that it was LGBT people who were targeted–whatever your reason, let us have a moment of silence and reflection. And, during this moment, know this:
You are loved!
I may not be there with you, in person, but I love you.
Okay, now–let’s talk about the challenge.
Thank you, everyone, for your wonderful submissions! This week was truly difficult for our readers and voters because the votes were so incredibly close! You all did a wonderful job with last week’s prompt!
